Post-Couture produces editable clothing designs, that consumers can print and self-assemble at their local maker-space.

As the maker movement advances, nurses are able to create custom hospital equipment, just as beat makers can invent parts for production equipment. Netherlands-based collective Post-Couture brings the concept to clothing, producing customizable designs that users assemble at their local maker-space.

Post-Couture’s designs use Spacer fabric, a 3D material made from recycled PET plastic bottles. Users choose a design from the website input measurements and download the pattern. When the fabric is delivered, it must be taken to a maker space to be laser-cut. The design is assembled by intertwining the tabs running down each side of the garment. Users also have the option of receiving the materials pre-cut, or buy the digital design files from EUR 5 to print themselves. Any trimmings or discarded garments can be returned to Post-Couture for recycling.
