The VR Exercise Machine Makes Workouts Fly

ICAROS simulates flying utilizing a virtual reality visual system.

One of the least appealing things about exercising is the gym environment. There are a number of systems such as VeloReality and Virtual Active iOS that utilize virtual reality to create various environments for your exercise pleasure. Now, ICAROS from HYVE adds a bit of fantasy to your workout. ICAROS is a system combining a virtual reality headset with a futuristic workout machine, that immerses users into fantastic adventures like flying through space or deep sea diving.

The system works with a PC app that operates the visual environments and a smartphone app that runs the visuals and monitors movements when attached to the goggles. The workout happens as the user stays on course while moving through the virtual reality environment. Each movement trains various muscle groups, while burning calories and strengthening reflexes and coordination. The HYVE company has completed the first working prototype and plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign.
