Wireless Charging Trousers | Nokia Lumia Devices

Nokia develops world’s first smartphone-charging trousers

The Finland-based company has teamed up with British fashion designer A. Sauvage to create wireless charging trousers that can power its Lumia devices on the go.

We use our smartphones so much that keeping them charged is a high priority, but it’s not always possible to find an outlet outside of the home or office. The idea of clothes that can keep devices powered has already been touted in high-end fashion ranges such as Pauline van Dongen’s Wearable Solar. Now Finland-based Nokia has teamed up with British fashion designer A. Sauvage to create commercial wireless charging trousers that can power the company’s Lumia devices on the go.

The trousers take the form of a pair of smart chinos designed by London-based A. Sauvage, fitted with the same technology found in Nokia’s DC-50 wireless charging plate. The plate can power the battery in Lumia smartphones through inductive charging, meaning those wearing the pants can simply place their phone in their pocket to ensure their device is kept at full charge. The trousers are part of the fashion house’s spring/summer Modern Man collection, and will be made available to buy through Amazon in the near future, although there’s been no word as to how much they’ll retail for.

Could innovations such as this bring an end to running out of battery at the most frustrating times?
