Running In The Rain | A Dream

girl_in_raincoat_running_in_the_rain_fantasy_artwork-t2I had this dream sometime between February 4th and 11th. A friend had died, but I didn’t attend the funeral and never saw the corpse, so I don’t know who the person was. I was determined to attend the repast at the family’s home. For whatever reason, I needed a ride, so a longtime male friend agreed to take me there and back.  Most of our friends were there, but I didn’t actually recognize anybody (no one was familiar to me except the friend who took me there.) The attendees were in good spirits eating, drinking, laughing and mingling. Later, we all sat in the living room reminiscing about the good times we’d had with the deceased. Later, I discovered my ride left me there without so much as a word. I became upset by my friend’s disrespect and later a creeping fear came over me. I asked around seeking a ride home, but no one seemed able to help me. Although my home was miles away, I decided to walk and immediately left the repast. As I quickly walked several blocks toward home, suddenly the wind began to whip and whirl, dark clouds covered the sky, frequent lightening popped and cracked, loud thunder banged and rumbled and heavy rain poured down. I had no protection and was immediately soaked, I ran as fast as I could, feeling vulnerable and very afraid. As dusk set in, I frantically ran toward home soaking wet, defeated and exhausted. When night fell I was completely struck by fear, but kept running in the pouring rain. The dream ended.

Seeing your friends in your dream means aspects of your personality that you have rejected, but are ready to integrate these rejected parts of yourself.  The relationships you have with those around you are important in learning about yourself. Additionally, this symbol foretells of happy tidings from them and the arrival of good news. Seeing your childhood friend in your dream means regression into your past where you had no responsibilities and things were much simpler and carefree. You may be wanting to escape the pressures and stresses of adulthood. Consider the relationship you had with this friend and the lessons that were learned. Alternatively, the childhood friend may be suggesting that you have been acting in a childish manner and you need to start acting like an adult. Dreaming that your best friend is dying, suggests that some aspect or quality that your best friend possess is dying within your own self.

Dreaming about the death of a loved one suggests that you are lacking a certain aspect or quality that the loved one embodies. Ask yourself what makes this person special or what do you like about him. It is that very quality that you are lacking in your own relationship or circumstances. Alternatively, it indicates that whatever that person represents has no part in your own life.

Dreaming that you are running away from someone indicates an issue that you are trying to avoid. You are not taking or accepting responsibility for your actions. In particular, if you are running from an attacker or any danger, then it suggests that you are not facing and confronting your fears. Dreaming that you are trying to run but cannot make your feet move as fast as you want them to means lack of self-esteem and self-confidence. It may also reflect your actual state of REM paralysis while in the dream state. Dreaming that you are running alone means that you will advance to a higher position and surpass your friends in the race for wealth. Alternatively, you may be running from some situation or from temptation. Dreaming that you are running with others means festive and prosperous times.

Dreaming that you get wet from the rain means that you will soon be cleansed from your troubles and problems. Rain also symbolizes fertility and renewal. Seeing and hear rain falling, symbolizes forgiveness and grace. Dreaming that you are watching the rain from a window indicates that spiritual ideas and insights are being brought to your awareness. It may also symbolize fortune and love. Hearing the tapping of the rain on the roof indicates spiritual ideas and blessings coming to mind. It may also suggest that you will receive much joy from your home life.

Dreaming that you feel fear means that your achievements will not be as successful as you had anticipated. You are having anxieties in certain circumstances of your life.

Dreaming that you are tired (exhausted), suggests that you are feeling emotionally drained and stressed. Dreams about being tired usually reflect how you really feel in your waking state.

  1. What are your hourly rates, Dr. Styln? I been having some weird dreams as of late, some I remember some I don’t, but they just come and go. Interesting perspective on what is going on while you are sleep. I noticed in the dream you had, the friend had no name…hmmm. What could that mean?

Chocolate, you’re so funny! I’ve found it very helpful and cathartic getting a better understanding of myself through my dreams. To address your thoughts, I never actually saw the friend who’d died and I didn’t recognize the home that I went to. Somehow I realized the person was a longtime friend, but for some reason I didn’t attend the funeral. I saw the male friend, so the deceased was mutual to that relationship. In a way, I’m glad at not having seen the deceased, because if that person is still living, I’d hate to have had a premonition of his/her death. Dreams are strange and wonderful at the same time.
