Thanks! The author of this lost book was really holding up a faith in the future despite the existence of a bleak and uncompromising future, as might have been observed if one then looked around,by the then current 19th century status of black people in America. An attached commentary referred to a Book II, Origin of An Ancient Cushite Civilization with comment or foreward by Asa Hilliard. I indicated that there was a "Wonderful Ethiopians of the Ancient Cushite Empire written by Drusilla Dunjee Houston (1876-1941) published in 1926, and republished in 1985 by Black Classic Press, with an Afterward by Asa G. Hilliard. Firmin’s 1885 prediction of a future black president of the United States was indeed astounding – and how else could you describe it! – and an amazingly optimistic outlook considering his time as well as a prophetic-like prediction of a future black president of the United States!
