I went to the closet and got a dress that I’d recently been gifted that was almost identical to her dress. It was mint green with a long slit (no ruffles) with a matching silk chiffon duster. I took the dress out of the plastic bag while explaining that it’s a Franklin Rowe design. My friend asked, “who is he” and I said, “Franklin Rowe is an African American designer.” Later, me and my sister stood in front of the full length mirror wearing our dresses, smiling at each other.
