Detroit girls have that ruff-n-ready street style! Huh, we get cute, but don’t get it twisted we’re tough. Yea, I said it; we’re born ready and we’re always down for a live party. If necessary, we can go from work to a party with a quick freshen-up and comb through, cuz we’re cut like that! Some of us have been known to keep a small wardrobe in the car for fashion emergencies.
So, even during hard times Detroit girls must have those sweet stilettos that grab attention from a long way off. Always at the ready is a hot dress, a leggings hook-up, and a fitted denim or leather suit for rockin’ the club. Most importantly, Detroit girls gotta have that statement bag; a logo embossed, super soft leather or exotic skin, chain linked, chunky hardware, fancy stitched, over-sized thang that says, “you know you want my baa-aag!”
We rock statement necklaces, big earrings and bangles galore. We keep our nails and toes done and our hair fried, dyed, whipped and tied. We might be weavin’, wiggin’, twisted or shaved, but our hair is always gonna be laid. We might be unemployed, broke or on the dole, but at a party you’d never know. Yea, Detroit’s a hard town, but we also know how to, “get down wit-da get down!” And, you can’t show up to the party looking…BUSTED!
