I know it says "red" skull but when I look at it I notice some ‘black" in the figure. Now let me go break my piggy bank for that extra mill I got in there to go buy this "bargain"-lol

tehehehehe! I bet the bidding goes much higher than they expect. I hope it sets a record…at least for a Basquiat. Sheesh, I need to get my crayons out and make some art.

Styln – That’s the way I feel regarding "Abstracts" – But if the dude’s got connoisseurs that are willing to pay the duckies [money] for it, who am I to holla ’bout it -

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…………..I guess some art are an aquired taste. To me what I like is not dependent on "who" did it, it simply is based on what i like, what inspires, hmmmmmmmmm……see ‘aquired taste’.Interesting entry. Have a good weekend.

Rhapsody Fab: You’re so right, some art is somewhat hard to love depending on your style/flavor. I love contemporary/abstarct art, impressionism and many other styles and artists. I’m particularly intersted in Basquiat becuse of his story and his ability to break into the mainstrem art world at a time when there were no young Black artists being represented by top New York art galleries. From homelessness, sleeping in a cardboard box in Central Park and making street graffitti to worldwide recognition for simply expressing himself is an awesome accomplishment in my opinion. Back in the 1980′s, I used to buy Interview magazine to read about the exploits of Jean-Michael Basquiat, because he was a young Black trailblazer in Pop Art back then. In latter years, he’s become somewhat of an icon and I love it! I hope Red Skull breaks the bank in this messed up economy.

Oh, see I didn’t know he was black. Now my initial impressions of this piece make sense.
